Electrification of Line Brno – Střelice Draws Near
The double-track line section from a road overpass in Vídeňská Street in Brno to Střelice (included) will be electrified by an alternate power traction system. At the same time, ir will acquire new signalling equipment which will be controlled remotely from the station Brno hlavní nádraží (Brno Main Station) when the construction is complete.
Current railway stops Troubsko and Střelice dolní will be completed by two new ones – Brno-Starý Lískovec and Ostopovice. A platform with a height of 550 mm above the track with barrier-free access will be built at all of them. Besides an external platform at the passenger building, Střelice Station will acquire another centre one. Access will be provided from an underpass by stairs of by lift. The platform will be from 170 to 220 metres long.
Four railway crossings are situated between Brno-Horní Heršpice and Střelice. All of them will be reconstructed; current signalling equipment will be completed by barriers at two of these. The construction also includes a renovation of five bridges and a new footbridge for pedestrians at Střelice. Maximum speed of trains on the line will be 120 kph when the ETCS system is installed; until then, trains will be running at a maximum speed of 100 kph.
