Passengers get modern facilities at further stations

Správa železnic is continuously improving the environment at railway stations across the Czech Republic, and has recently completed the construction of new or reconstruction of existing buildings at several stations. While in Chodov and Aš passengers serve completely new buildings, in Bílina, Benešov nad Ploučnicí and Světlá nad Sázavou they have reconstructed premises that meet all current requirements, including barrier-free access. Work on all sites has been underway since 2022 and the total cost of these reconstructions amounts to almost CZK 380 million.

A brand new station building has been serving the public in since the end of last year. Its modern facilities better suit today's passenger needs, while at the same time reducing operating costs. The new terminal has also improved connections to buses. The total cost of the construction amounts to CZK 95 million. In the second half of this year, the first platform will be roofed in the station.

Passengers in Chodov in the Karlovy Vary region also received a new facility. In addition to modern facilities, it has shortened the walking distance from the city, the check-in area is located near the pedestrian underpass. The builders only have to finish the visual concrete and install photovoltaic panels, which will lead to energy savings. The total cost of the construction is CZK 57 million. The extension of the pedestrian underpass to Hrnčířská Street is planned for next year.

Not only passengers appreciated the completion of the reconstruction in Benešov nad Ploučnicí in the Děčín region. The first floor of the large building is already used by the Police of the Czech Republic, and the ground floor houses the archives of the local town hall. The whole building is barrier-free, also thanks to the lift to the first floor. As a result of the work, there is a new ticket shop and also public toilets. The installed information system offers current train departures. In front of the building there is a car and bicycle parking with a charging station. The construction cost almost 70 million crowns in total.     

The station building in Bílina was also completely renovated. The builders built a new public toilets and installed a modern information system. Not only the entrance to the hall is barrier-free, but also the reconstructed doctors' offices on the first floor, where patients can get there by lift. Optimal temperature conditions are ensured by the new air conditioning system. The total cost of the construction exceeds CZK 102 million.

The builders returned the listed building in Světlá nad Sázavou to its historical appearance. The work included restoration of the facade and roof cladding, as well as the replacement of windows and doors. Furthermore, damaged parts of the ceiling structures and the roof truss were replaced. The internal layout of the public areas was modified and new toilets were built. All this cost a total of just under CZK 52 million.
