Passengers Will Start Using a New Stop at Písek

Today, Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) festively opened a new stop Písek jih. Passengers will start using it as of 15 December with the new timetable validity start. The stop will be used not only by regular trains between Tábor and Ražice but also newly introduced through trains connecting Tábor with Strakonice. Total investment costs amounted to a sum of CZK 25.8 million.

The new stop is situated on the site of the underpass for pedestrians parallel to Preslova Street. Citizens and visitors of the city will appreciate its position near the city centre. They can get to trains by lighted access ways from both sides of the platform 90 metres long. Its boarding edge height of 550 millimetres above the rail will allow comfortable boarding of the train. Barrier-free connection to local roads is a matter-of-course.

The platform has roofing for passengers in its central part; its shape has been discussed with the City Hall of Písek. The new stop is also equipped with an orientation system, public lighting, an electronic information table and radio. Modern furniture can be found here as well.

The construction supplier was the company EDIKT; works were going on since this June. At the same time, the city repaired the underpass near the station and built a parking place for passengers.
