SŽDC will open a tender for a supplier up to the end of the year, construction works will start during 2020. Extensive repairs and modernization of the listed building dating from 1908 will cost CZK 585 million.

The construction will include reconstruction of the whole passenger building together with connecting ground wings under Platform 1. Repair works will concentrate e.g. on the façade, the roof and the interior. Current unused premises and adjoined terrain will be modernized extensively. The main building entrance will lead newly to Lannova Avenue and will be connected to the innovated background for passengers and commercial premises. The reconstruction has as objective to improve and revive the station premises and to turn them into an attractive place not only for passengers but for the wide public as well.

Together with the passenger building reconstruction, a revitalization of adjoining outer open space is also expected wit new parking areas for passengers on wheelchairs; a new bike tower will be built on the southern side and a new rest zone will be created on the northern surface. Higher floors of the building will be used especially by SŽDC components; the northern wing will newly contain the local Czech Police district.
