Správa železnic Calls a Tender for Modernization of Pardubice Railway Junction Construction Supplier

Modernization of the railway infrastructure at Pardubice main station will result in a noise decrease and a speed increase of passing trains. Passengers will have at their disposal repaired centre platforms with barrier-free access, a new orientation system, station radio, lifts and escalators.

This important construction is another step of Správa železnic towards barrier-free access of the Czech railway. Access to all platforms will be assured by underpasses equipped with escalators. Barrier-free access will be assured by lifts in the departure underpass. The project also includes a connection of the station foreground and the southern part of Pardubice City which will be provided by a new barrier-free footbridge for pedestrians“, says Mr. Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic.

A new centre platform will be added to the reconstructed ones with extended underpasses. Platforms 2 – 5 will be connected to the departure underpass by escalators. The railway superstructure and substructure will be reconstructed as well as signalling and safety equipment, the catenary, heavy-current power technology and bridge constructions. A connection of the city parts separated by the railway corridor will be assured by a new footbridge for pedestrians in connection to the investments of the City of Pardubice in preparation. The information and orientation systems will be modernized as well.

Works should be launched this August and completed in October 2024. Estimated investment costs will exceed a sum of CZK 4.4 billion. In its first phase, the construction will be financed from national resources; however, co-financing from EU resources is also expected.
