Správa železnic looking for Supplier for Further Plzeň Junction Reconstruction Stage

Správa železnic will continue reconstructing the Plzeň railway junction. During these days, it opened a tender for reconstruction of a line section almost four kilometres long between the Lobzy part of Plzeň main station and Koterov station which will no longer serve passenger transport when works are complete. It will be replaced by a newly built railway stop Plzeň-Slovany. Speed of trains will increase from the current 100 kph up to 120 kph.

The construction will be connected to the already completed reconstruction of the trackage at Plzeň hlavní nádraží (Plzeň Main Station) in direction to Prague. Not only will the connecting section in direction to České Budějovice be reconstructed but the station Plzeň-Koterov as well. Three remaining platforms will be removed there; following that, the trackage configuration will change, consisting now of two main tracks and one relief track.

Passengers will start using the new railway stop Plzeň-Slovany which will offer a better connection to mass urban transport lines. Two platforms 120 metres long with a boarding edge at a standard height of 550 mm above the track will be built. Access to trains will be barrier-free. The railway crossing between streets U Seřadiště and Na Lipce will be replaced by a barrier-free footbridge.

For this public tender designated as Junction Plzeň, 5th construction – Lobzy – Koterov, Správa železnic set a maximum admissible bidding price of CZK 2,221,640,000 (VAT excluded).
