Traffic on fourth corridor is managed from new control room in Traffic Control Centre Prague

Traffic Control Centre (TCC) of Správa železnic in Prague opened a new traffic control room to manage a part of the IV. Railway Transit Corridor at its Balabenka facility. It is currently used for remote control of traffic between Praha-Uhříněves and Tábor and will gradually expand its scope across the whole section Praha-Uhříněves – Horní Dvořiště state border.

This line section has been controlled by the Traffic Control Centre (TCC) Prague since August 2016 from temporary locations. Now the traffic control employees have moved to the final premises. All workstations for service staff meet the latest trends, especially in terms of monitor size and comfort, thanks to the use of desks almost two metres wide.

Currently, 579 kilometres of lines are under remote control of the TCC Prague; the latest addition is the operation of the section Červený Újezd u Votic – Tábor as of 13 October. Activation of the centralised traffic control will be completed in this phase at the end of January or beginning of February next year, when the related part will be connected to station Hluboká nad Vltavou-Zámostí. The length of the linked and serviced sections will be extended to 635 kilometres. Remaining part of the line on the state border with Austria, including the České Budějovice station, will be connected to TCC Prague in following years.

TCC Prague currently has six control rooms. After connecting the line section to Tábor, a total of 83 stations and overtaking stations and 98 stops will be remotely controlled. 185 line dispatchers and 75 railway transport operators working in shifts will be involved in their operation.
