Variants of Střešovice Tunnels will be assessed by International Experts

Knowledgeable world experts in tunnel construction will become involved in dealing with the most challenging railway section between Dejvice and Veleslavín leading to the airport. Správa železnic announced this on Thursday 20 February 2020 during a public meeting of the Prague 6 city part Municipal Council where it presented all solutions being under consideration.

We envisage inviting experts from universities in Bochum, Graz or Zurich. The decision on the institute to be chosen will be taken at the regular meeting of the working group for the Dejvice – Veleslavín section. We will also ask Czech experts from the Czech Tunnelling Association, the Water Management Research Institute and the Czech Technical University to elaborate an independent peer review comparing all relevant variants for this route“, said Mr. Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic and added: ”Additional geological drills will be carried out in the affected area within further technical parameters’ verification“.

At the end of January, Správa železnic presented a study comparing all variants of leading the route underground to representatives of the Committee of the Prague 6 city part for strategy, development and transport. On Thursday 20 February 2020, it discussed the same topic at the meeting of the Prague 6 city part Municipal Council. The public was invited to take part in this meeting as well. On Thursday 3 March 2020, a meeting of the working group for the Dejvice – Veleslavín section will take place with the participation of representatives of the Capital City of Prague, the Prague 6 city part, the investor,  the designer, the public and the organizers of the petition against Střešovice Tunnels. Správa železnic also prepares a day of specialized presentations for Prague 6 denizens within the National Library of Technology premises.
