The modernisation of a key section of the transit corridor between Prague and Plzen has ended
With the complete commissioning of the Ejpovice tunnel, the modernisation of the currently fourteen kilometre long section of the third rail transit corridor between Rokycany and Plzen has ended. The project is co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund within the Operational Program for Transport. Mr Marc Lemaître the Director General of DG Regio for the European Commission accompanied by the Minister for Transport Dan Ťok took part in todays ceremonial ending of the works.

Closure of Plzeň Main Station Southern Part Ended
On Thursday 6 December, the closure of the passenger railway station southern part at Plzeň hlavní nádraží (Plzeň Main Station) ended. During this closure, a new bridge spanning over Mikulášská Street was built, railway substructure and superstructure was completely reconstructed, new platforms were built and platform roofing was repaired. A new underpass will allow access from Platforms No 5 and 6 not only to other platforms but to a new bus terminal in Šumavská Street as well.

SŽDC Prepared an Action Plan for the Two Years to Follow, Based on the Organization Long-Term Strategy
Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) starts fulfilling separate items of the long-term strategy which has been submitted to the respective government officials by its highest representative, Mr. Jiří Svoboda; it was also acknowledged by the state organization’s Administration Board. The document focuses e.g. on railway lines’ maintenance, Rapid Service preparation, network services at railway stations or examination of information technologies; the human resources area is represented as well. SŽDC already transposed specific items from this document into the short-term action plan for the period 2019 and 2020.

SŽDC Going to Launch Further Important Investments
Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) continues improving parameters of the railway infrastructure. Today, a tendering of six more constructions was approved with total investment costs exceeding CZK 13 billion. For example, modernization of corridor sections from Praha-Smíchov to Černošice and from Soběslav to Doubí u Tábora should be launched in several months already.

SŽDC Asked for Territorial Proceedings Decision on Three Sections of the Airport Railway Line
Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) accelerates preparations of the project Modernization of the line Praha – Kladno with a connection to Václav Havel Airport as a reaction to challenges of dynamically developing air transport. In November, it submitted a request for a territorial proceedings decision to three partial constructions – modernizations of the sections Praha-Bubny – Praha-Výstaviště, Praha-Ruzyně – Kladno and Kladno – Kladno-Ostrovec. Tenders for elaborating documentation needed to acquire a building permit are currently being prepared for these investments. Meetings of experts concerning preparation of documents fro territorial proceedings are currently under way for the section Praha-Dejvice - Praha-Veleslavín which is very demanding on implementation.

Extensive Signalling Equipment Reconstruction Will Have Impact on Rail Operation for a Year
Passengers at the Main Station in Brno could notice construction activities in some parts of this frequented railway station this summer already. Works will enter a new phase with the validity start of the new train timetable on Sunday 9 December 2018; moreover, an extensive reconstruction of signalling equipment is going to start. All of this will have a considerable impact for travelling by train in the South Moravia capital for a period of one year.

Passenger Building in Sokolov Now Serves Both Rail and Bus Transport
The complete reconstruction of the railway station building in Sokolov is finished. The building will now serve as a common terminal both for railway and passenger transport passengers. The construction investor was Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC), works for a price of CZK 25.3 million were carried out by the company SWIETELSKI stavební. Repairs of the building took almost one year and its festive opening took place today.

SŽDC Launched Operation in the Longest Railway Tunnel in the Czech Republic; the First Train Passed It on 15 November
A record of 4,150 metres: such is the length of the longest tunnel in the Czech Republic. It is part of the railway line Rokycany – Plzeň which thus acquired a primacy within the whole network of Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC). A freight train was the first to pass the Ejpovice tunnel southern tube at a lower speed on 15 November in the evening. Passengers took a ride through the tunnel in a special train on 16 November.

SŽDC Accelerates Preparation of Rapid Service on Our Territory
Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) implements the Resolution of the Government from last May which approved the Programme of developing Railway Rapid Service in the Czech Republic. At present, feasibility studies for the directions RS1/2 Prague – Brno – Břeclav, RS3 in the sections Praha – Beroun/Hořovice and RS4 Prague – Dresden are already being elaborated. The studies will be gradually completed during the two years to follow. In case of the line RS3 Prague – Munich, an important turning point is the currently announced support of modernization of another important cross-border connection on the German side.

SŽDC Will Use a Unique Method to Select a Supplier of a Study for a New Line in Moravia
Up to the end of the week, Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) will call a public tender “Feasibility study for the high-speed line (Brno) – Přerov – Ostrava”. Besides building the railway line as such, its object is a draft of possible railway infrastructure modifications in the section RS1 Brno – Přerov – Ostrava.
