Line Reconstruction between Oldřichov u Duchcova and Bílina Will Shorten Journey Times

The construction’s objective is a complete reconstruction of the line section mentioned above which will allow a speed increase up to 140 kph. This will result in shorter journey times of trains. Works will include adaptations of tracks at the whole Oldřichov u Duchcova Station, on the branch line leading to the Duchcov welding shop, on the connection of branching lines to Litvínov and the Teplice lesní brána stop and of course in the double-track line section Oldřichov u Duchcova – Bílina.

Due to the reconstruction at Oldřichov u Duchcova Station, platforms will be relocated to the trackage part in direction to Bílina for better comfort of passengers. A new railway stop Jeníkov-Oldřichov will be established there. In this connection, a new underpass will be built under the railway line, enabling access to individual platforms.

The reconstruction includes also new signalling equipment, a new catenary, lighting, electrical heating of switch points, building platforms at a standard height of 550 millimetres above the rail and ensuring barrier-free access at reconstructed railway stops. The Duchcov railway stop will undergo significant changes as well.

From the beginning of the year, SŽDC already started several constructions at the foothills of Krušné hory. In mid-February, electrification of the five kilometres long section from Kadaň-Prunéřov to Kadaň was launched; it will allow a direct train connection with the majority of important city centres in Ústí nad Labem Region. In March, reconstruction of Řetenice Station on the line from Ústí nad Labem to Chomutov started. And last but not least, the line Oldřichov u Duchcova – Litvínov is undergoing complex reconstruction.
