Správa železnic Selected Contractor for Line Modernisation between Čelákovice and Mstětice
Construction will include mainly two new relocations, which will enable to increase the speed of trains up to 140 km/h, or 160 km/h for vehicles with tilting technology. The first one, 1.9 kilometres long, will straighten the line just after Čelákovice through the partially built-up local part Záluží, while the second one will measure approximately one kilometre and will follow a gentler curve through the open countryside in front of Mstětice station.
On the remaining parts of this section, the railway superstructure and substructure will be completely reconstructed. At Mstětice station, a new island platform with two platform edges 220 metres long and 6.1 metres wide will be built; the height above the track will be 550 mm. Passenger access to trains will be provided from both sides by a new barrier-free pedestrian underpass under the entire track facility. As part of the construction, two level crossings will be removed and new road relocations will be built. New line interlocking will be installed along the entire section.
Operation at the Mstětice station will be controlled from the traffic control centre CDP Praha after the completion of the project. Radio and information equipment will also be installed here with the possibility of remote control from the Čelákovice station and future connection to the dispatcher's workplace in Prague. Due to the necessity to maintain the maximum possible capacity of the railway infrastructure, a temporary branch Záluží will be established in the intermediate section for a period of approximately one year.
Work on the nearly 30-kilometre-long section Praha-Vysočany – Lysá nad Labem began in 2017. It will be finished in mid-2025, with more than two-thirds to be completed this year. Once the entire arm is modernised, speed will be increased in some sections up to 160 km/h and travel time for long distance traffic will be reduced by up to five minutes. A significant benefit for passengers will be the creation of a new stop Praha-Rajská zahrada with a direct transfer link to public transport. It is to be available to passengers from next spring. The modernisation of the entire arm has been divided into four projects; the total investment costs will amount to approximately CZK 10.7 billion and will be co-financed by EU funds.
