Alternate Current System Approaches Přerov

Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) actually started the transfer to a unified power feeding system, thanks to a contract signed with the winning bidder in the tender for introducing an alternate current system 25kV, 50Hz in the section Nedakonice – Říkovice which has been using a direct current traction power feeding system so far.

The main objective of the construction is changing traction power feeding from DC to AC voltage in a line section approximately 43 kilometres long. The contact site of both systems will thus move to the north to the Přerov junction. The project also includes preparation for electrification of the sections Otrokovice – Zlín – Vizovice and Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště – Luhačovice/Veselí nad Moravou/Bylnice by an AC power feeding system.

The association of companies Elektrizace železnic Praha and AŽD Praha has been selected as the construction supplier. It will first elaborate project documentation; works as such should be launched next April. Total estimated investment costs amount to a sum of CZK 2.3 billion. Completion of works is expected for August 2022.
