Designer will prepare a technical design of high-speed line near Ústí nad Labem

Správa železnic announced another public tender for design works for high-speed lines (HSL). Documentation for zoning decision will be created for the section from Ústí nad Labem to the portal of the Ore Mountains Tunnel (Krušnohorský tunel). The contractor will also prepare a design for a maintenance base in Chabařovice, from which the line will be serviced.

Work on documentation for zoning decision of the Ore Mountains Tunnel, which was commissioned by Správa železnic together with German colleagues last year, is underway. Now the design of the connection of Ore Tunnel to the Czech high-speed network will begin on the Czech side. By combining these two documents, which the sought-after designer is also tasked with, an interconnection of the Czech and German networks in the direction of Praha – Dresden outside the Elbe valley. The contractor will also prepare a technical design for the reconstruction of the existing line from Ústí nad Labem to Chabařovice. The public contract also includes the preparation of documents for the environmental impact assessment EIA, until the state border with Germany. The technical designs of the tunnel and the line itself will be approved, as a whole as part of the planning procedure, so the preparation will be closely coordinated. The tender documentation also enables the announcement of an architectural competition for the design and layout of the terminal in Ústí nad Labem.

Detailed technical design of the line will be continuously consulted with municipalities, public and other partners of the HSL preparation.

With a length of up to 31 kilometres, the Ore Mountains Tunnel will be the longest similar construction in Central Europe. In addition to passenger trains, it will also serve freight traffic, creating a new capacity link with Germany and Western Europe. Construction of the tunnel will start around 2030 and it is the most complex infrastructure construction on the Czech high-speed rail network. Details on HSL Praha – Ústí nad Labem – Dresden are published on the website of Správa železnic. The public can also use the information centre at the main railway station in Ústí nad Labem, which focuses on the preparation of this high-speed line.
