Expected Reconstruction of Passenger Building at Havířov Launched

”We start reconstructing an outdated building unsatisfactory for operation needs into a new building corresponding to 21st century requirements and standards. During the two years to come, the whole building will be completely reconstructed including important dispositional changes“, said Mr. Jiří Svoboda, Director General of SŽDC. The external coat of the building will be adapted (facade including an exchange of windows and doors, heating and roofing exchange). At the same time, internal dispositional changes of inner premises for the needs of SŽDC, carriers and the public will occur. The construction will include a reconstruction of underground services’ connections, internal distribution (central heating, wiring), building new lavatories for the public and adding components for ensuring barrier-free access such as lifts. A new information and orientation system will be installed as well as guiding utilities for sightless passengers.

Reconstruction of the passenger building will be carried out in two phases. First, the operation and administration parts and adjoining reinforced surfaces including the external stairs will be reconstructed. Works have as objective to build a new dispatching hall for passengers and a new background for carriers (employees of České dráhy and RegioJet). During the second phase, a reconstruction of the current dispatching hall and the restaurant will be carried out including the glassed-in wall and roof, cash desks will be moved to the new dispatching hall and following that, new lavatories for passengers will be built and will replace the old cash desks.

The project mentioned above is directly followed by another project called Forecourt of Havířov Station, carried out by the Statutory City of Havířov. ”This is an exceptional project which will change the entrance gate of our beautiful city forever. I am happy that we finally carried through a notion which we were not able to implement for 30 years. Havířov certainly deserves such an investment“, said Mr. Josef Bělica, Mayor of the City of Havířov.

The main investment’s objective is to revitalize the station forecourt including a construction of a transport terminal and the infrastructure related together with a parking area. Construction will be launched this year.

SŽDC prepares also a modernization project for Havířov railway station as such which should be implemented in 2021 - 2022.
