Line modernisation from Brno to Přerov will bring 200 km/h and higher safety, level crossings will disappear completely

Another section of the line from Brno to Přerov is one step closer to its implementation. Správa železnic has concluded a contract to create documentation for the building permit for the section between Blažovice and Vyškov. The 20-kilometre-long section will be designed by the companies SUDOP BRNO, AFRY CZ and SUDOP PRAHA.

Full double-tracking and a complete reconstruction of the line to a speed of 200 km/h are planned. The project also includes the installation of state-of-the-art signalling equipment, supplemented by the European Train Control System (ETCS).

The prepared section starts in front of Blažovice station, where it continues by the existing double-track line in the direction of Šlapanice and ends in Vyškov. Three tunnels will be constructed: Holubický, Rousínovský and Habrovanský, the first of which will be almost one kilometre long, and three large bridge flyovers ranging from two hundred to six hundred metres in length. All crossings in this section will be replaced by underpasses or overpasses. The railway station in Vyškov is also awaiting a complete reconstruction.

With the completion of the construction, the regional train service from Brno to Vyškov will be renewed. Therefore, new stops will be built in Blažovice, Holubice, Rousínov and Luleč, which will be significantly closer to the centres of the municipalities.

The total cost of the project work is CZK 545 million excluding VAT. The application for the building permit is expected to be submitted in February 2025, and the actual construction is currently expected to take place in 2026-2031.

The construction is proposed to be co-funded by the European Union from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). National funding will be provided by Státní fond dopravní infrastruktury (State Fund for Transport Infrastructure).
