Opening of Information Centre of Správa železnic at Ústí nad Labem Main Station

Today Správa železnic opened its second information centre for the public. It is located in the underpass of the main station in Ústí nad Labem and the public can primarily obtain information about the preparation of the high-speed railway (HSR) line Dresden – Prague. Apart from trained staff, information panels are available to cover all aspects of the preparation of this cross-border high-speed line. The information centre will initially be open on certain days of the week and subsequently every workday.

“By opening this information centre we aim to strengthen the communication of the HSR line preparation. Besides the information panels, visitors will also find a 3D model of Krušné hory (Ore Mountains) and, thanks to intensive cooperation with German colleagues from DB, samples of drilled rock collected during the exploration of the subsoil of the future Krušnohorský tunel (Ore Mountains Tunnel),” said Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic.

“I am very pleased that our partners from Správa železnic have established an information centre for those who want to learn about our joint project. Dialogue, acceptance and transparent information are essential prerequisites for the success of European transport projects. The new information centre in Ústí nad Labem is therefore of great relevance. DB will also open a similar contact centre on the German side to meet the growing interest in the new Dresden – Prague line. This major project is an important symbol of the strengthening of the railway in Europe,” stated Marcus Schenkel, head of infrastructure projects for the Regional Unit Southeast at DB Netz.

There are panels focused on different aspects of the construction of high-speed lines in the information centre. Visitors will not only find details about the preparation of individual HSR sections, but also about their environmental and economic impact. They will also expand their knowledge of man-made structures (especially bridges and tunnels) or the routing principles of entirely new railways.

The preparation of the individual sections of the high-speed railway in the Czech Republic has advanced to the next phase, in which Správa železnic, together with designers, is already compiling detailed documentation for the zoning decision. In the case of the line Prague – Ústí nad Labem – Dresden, two sections are at this stage. These are the VRT Podřipsko (HSR Říp Flatlands) between Prague and Lovosice and the cross-border Ore Mountains Tunnel, which the Správa železnic is developing together with DB.
