Operational Programme Transport continues on railway, new period has started
The first construction of Správa železnic has secured funding under the next cycle of the Operational Programme Transport. At the end of March, the Ministry of Transport approved the first infrastructure project co-financed by the European Union from this programme for the period 2021–2027. This was the installation of the European Train Control System (ETCS) between Ústí nad Orlicí and Lichkov.
The Ministry of Transport has selected the construction of the ETCS (Level 2) in the line section of approximately 35 kilometres for co-financing as a construction of strategic importance. The builders started the implementation of the works last April, construction works are currently being completed.
The total investment costs of the project called ETCS Ústí nad Orlicí – Lichkov amounted to CZK 306 million, the maximum amount of EU support is 85% of the eligible costs. The financing from national sources was provided by the SFDI (State Fund for Transport Infrastructure).
