Preparations for New Railway Service Dresden – Prague Continue

Yesterday, representatives of Správa železnic took part in a meeting of the working group of Ministries of Transport of the Czech Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany in Dresden. The group moved forward in preparation of an international agreement which will ensure the construction and operation of this European project of uttermost importance. The Praha-Vysočany – Lovosice/Litoměřice HSL section is part of the main Trans-European transport network which should be completed up to 2030.

Last year, territorial proceedings were launched on the territory of the Free State of Saxony for the German part of the new railway Dresden – Prague service project. The proceedings will include i.a. the option of extending the tunnel under Krušné hory (Ore Mountains); therefore, Správa železnic will examine all possible impacts on the Czech part of the project.

Správa železnic is currently preparing public tenders for carrying out geodetic mapping of the corridor for the planned Rapid Service 4 section of Praha-Vysočany – Lovosice/Litoměřice HSL as well as a geological and natural science survey. Besides that, it will also request an updating of the concerned regions’ territorial development principles which is a step necessary for acquiring a territorial decision. For these activities, Správa železnic uses continuous outputs from the Feasibility study for the new railway service Prague - Dresden.

The new line will be important not only for international transport but it will also improve considerably the connection of Ústí nad Labem Region with Prague and thus contribute to an economic development of the whole region.
