Residents of Dynín and Neplachov Have Platforms Closer to Their Villages

Driving at speed of 160 km/h on next section of the fourth corridor; this is one of the concrete benefits of the completed modernisation of the double-track line between Dynín and Ševětín. Accessibility of the railway for the inhabitants of both municipalities has also improved, thanks to the relocation of the platforms in Dynín and Neplachov. The modernised section is ready for the installation of the European Train Control System (ETCS) now.

"The construction has been going on since March 2018. Its purpose was primarily to prepare the conditions for the deployment of the European Train Control System ETCS and to bring the railway line and related structures and equipment into a technical condition corresponding to European parameters and standards. Safety was also increased thanks to the modernisation of the signalling system," said Petr Hofhanzl, Director of Civil Engineering Administration West of Správa železnic.

The content of the modernisation of the double-track section with a length of 4.3 km was the establishment of a new railway superstructure with an emphasis on increasing speed, as well as the reconstruction of the railway substructure and bridges and culverts. The existing level platforms at the Dynín railway station have been cancelled. New stop serves to the passenger on the southern railway branch of the station with an access from the local road III/1555. In Neplachov, the stop has been moved to a new location closer to the village. Newly built underpass provides access to the platforms. Both stops are equipped with platforms with wheelchair access, platform shelters for passengers, lighting, information and camera system.

The signalling system, traction catenary lines and other related construction and technological facilities also underwent modernisation. These include the railway bridge over the road III/1555 in the southern part of the Dynín railway station. The original steel structure with wooden bridge beams was due to the low operating speed replaced by a structure with a continuous rail bed. The design of a steel U-frame with a bottom plate only 100 mm thick with a bridge span of 12.6 m provides increase of the vertical clearance under the bridge and at the same time preserves the inclination rates of the railway line. The bottom sheet of the supporting structure from a single piece could not be made in the conditions of the Czech Republic; its production was therefore commissioned in Germany.

The total investment costs of the action entitled Modernisation of the Nemanice I – Ševětín line, 1st construction, modifications for ETCS, 2nd part amount to CZK 756,284,394 without VAT. The project co-financed the European Union from the Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Transport 2014–2020. The maximum EU contribution amounted up to CZK 494,764,171. National funding provided Státní fond dopravní infrastruktury.

The contractor of the construction was Společnost Nemanice – Ševětín - EŽ+AŽD+Subterra. It consisted of the companies Elektrizace železnic Praha (leading participant), AŽD Praha and Subterra.
