Revitalization and Electrification of Oldřichov u Duchcova – Litvínov Line Launched

Another railway line in the Ústí nad Labem Region will undergo complex reconstruction during the two years to come. Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) launched these days a revitalization and electrification of the line section from Oldřichov u Duchcova to Litvínov. Total investment costs amount to CZK 1.1 billion.

The construction just being launched corresponds to the transport concept of Ústí nad Labem Region which assumes introducing direct trains with electrical traction from the region centre up to Litvínov. Therefore it also includes building a catenary in the still un-electrified section 1.5 kilometres long between Louka u Litvínova and Litvínov.

Construction works will last two years; approximately 13.5 km of lines will be adapted. New platforms at a standard height of 550 mm above the rail will contribute to a travelling culture improvement at all stations and stops. Access to trains will be completely barrier-free. Higher operation safety will be assured by electronic signalling equipment of Category 3; line speed will increase up to 100 kph. Traffic will be controlled remotely by traffic controllers from Louka u Litvínova Station.

This year, the line section Louka u Litvínova – Litvínov will be reconstructed and electrified; closures here are planned from 5 June to 2 December.
