Správa železnic Has Announced Tender for Supplier of Documentation for VRT Vysočina (HSR Highlands)

Správa železnic has announced another public tender for documentation for the zoning decision in the matter of the planned high-speed lines network. The section of the VRT Vysočina (HSR Highlands) is part of the new railway connection from the capital to Brno and Břeclav. Besides the preparation of the documentation for the zoning decision, the designers will also compile all supporting documents for this documentation, such as engineering geological or natural science surveys. They will prepare documents for issuing a positive opinion within the EIA process or a digital model of the line in the BIM standard as well.

The documentation for the zoning decision will provide information on the specific location of the construction site in the given area, on the ground plan and height positioning or links to the surroundings. The documentation for the zoning decision also defines the concept of the connection of the construction to the existing transport and technical infrastructure and determines the future property relations of the HSR construction. Správa železnic expects the zoning decision for this section to be issued in 2025. First trains should run on the new line around 2031.

VRT Vysočina fáze I (HSR Highlands Phase I) will be designed for passenger transport only with a maximum speed of 320 km/h. The new construction of the high-speed line in the section Velká Bíteš – Brno includes connection to the existing railway network, its modifications and construction of the complementary infrastructure. The designers will also propose the reconstruction of the railway stop in Osová Bítýška and a completely new railway stop in Velká Bíteš. Both will be the subject of an architectural and urban design.

Správa železnic plans to prepare and build the lines so that passengers and railway undertakings can benefit from this new infrastructure from the very beginning of operation. VRT Vysočina fáze I (HSR Highlands Phase I), together with the sections of VRT Střední Čechy (HSR Central Bohemia) and VRT Polabí (HSR Elbe Flatlands), will reduce the travel time between Prague and Brno to approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Such a substantial reduction of the travel time will already allow at least partial transfer of long-distance connections from the corridors between these cities. The released capacity can serve not only intensive regional transport in the Brno agglomeration, but also freight transport.
