Správa železnic Obtained Building Permit for Modernisation of Railway in Kladno

Project of modernisation of the line section Kladno – Kladno-Ostrovec is close to realisation. Správa železnic has a final building permit and the tender for the construction contractor is underway. The entire section will be double-tracked and electrified, the track facility and the station building at Kladno station will undergo reconstruction. There will also be a new transit hub for public transport at the Kladno město stop. Construction should start at the end of this year.

Modernisation of the section between Kladno and Kladno-Ostrovec stations is part of the reconstruction of the line from Prague to Kladno. Kladno station will undergo a complete remodelling, and the local station building will also be repaired. The current single-track line will be transformed into a double-track line, new platforms, pedestrian underpasses and other facilities will be built. The busiest level crossings will be replaced by grade separated crossings. The new signalling equipment will help to ensure conditions for higher train speeds and generally safer rail transport.

Kladno station will newly contain six tracks intended for passenger transport with three grade separated platforms. Two island platforms and one outer platform with a length of 200 to 230 metres will be built here. The height of the platform edge will be 550 mm above the level of the tracks. A pedestrian underpass will provide grade separated access to the platforms. Its barrier-free accessibility is ensured by a combination of stairs, lifts and escalators. The underpass will be extended under the station forecourt towards the Kročehlavy residential area, transit to city buses in front of the station building and a P+R car park for about 270 cars will be provided for commuters.

The entire section will be double-tracked, the terminus will also remain double-tracked, which will increase the line's transport capacity. At the Kladno město stop and at the Kladno-Ostrovec station, two outer platforms will be built with a platform edge length of 230 metres (Kladno město) and 225 metres (Kladno-Ostrovec) and a height of 550 mm. Access to the platforms at the Kladno město stop will be from the pavements on the road overpass, using stairs and escalators, barrier-free access will be provided by lifts.

The railway line in the Kladno development crosses several differently frequented roads. Petra Bezruče street is one of the busiest ones and the crossing here will be replaced by a road underpass. The crossing in Havířská street will also be cancelled and replaced by a pedestrian underpass. Správa železnic is also preparing to replace the level crossing in Wolkerova street by an underpass under the line. Other level crossings will undergo modernisation of safety installation. The entire line will be electrified; electric trains will run from the centre of Prague to Kladno-Ostrovec station.
