Správa železnic to Establish New Organisational Unit for High-Speed Lines

At its regular meeting, the Supervisory Board of Správa železnic approved the intention to establish a new organisational unit for preparation, construction and operation of high-speed lines (HSL). This step is related to the ongoing work on this new railway network.

Project designers are currently preparing detailed documentation for zoning decisions for five sections of new high-speed lines. Správa železnic is currently looking for suppliers of these materials for the next three sections. Due to the need for more efficient management of the preparation of the HSL, the Supervisory Board has decided to establish a new organisational unit in which the preparation of the lines, their construction and subsequent operation and maintenance will be centralised.

The development programme of Fast Connections envisages the creation of up to 700 km of new high-speed lines. Správa železnic expects up to 300 km of HSL to be in an advanced stage of preparation this year. The network will also include high-speed rail terminals, for which Správa železnic is announcing architectural and urban planning competitions. Terminals Praha východ (Prague East Terminal) and Roudnice nad Labem have already been given their shape. Operation on the first HSL sections should start around 2030.
