Station building in Vsetín has finished its service life, it will be replaced by modern terminal

The dynamics of the ongoing work at the Vsetín railway station is visible at every step. In the middle of the summer holidays, the next stage of reconstruction started, which now focuses on the second part of the track facility. The removal of the obsolete station building will also begin, to be replaced by a modern terminal. It will open to passengers next spring. A new car park is also gradually taking shape.

“The current appearance of the Vsetín station did not correspond to its importance not only in regional but also in long-distance railway transport. Although, international EuroCity trains from Prague to Slovakia also stop here. It is therefore a very positive that, soon, it will offer passengers all the necessary comforts,” says Minister of Transport Martin Kupka.

The station building in Vsetín will make way for a modernised station in the coming days. At present, passengers no longer use it, we have moved the ticket office and waiting room, including sanitary facilities, to replacement premises in a nearby car park. Several months of temporary measures will soon be compensated by a modern terminal, which will open in March next year,” describes Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic.

Track facility reconstruction works will be completed this December, at the same time the new platform 2 and the station pedestrian underpass will be completed. Work is also continuing in other parts of the vast station. In January, the level crossing in U Křivačkárny Street was cancelled, and in March, works on the pedestrian underpass, which will replace the crossing in Štěpánská Street, could begin. Therefore, a new road with a bridge over the Rokytenka Stream is being built between these streets, which will serve both cars and pedestrians. Full completion is expected in June next year and after that the crossing in Štěpánská Street will be cancelled.

The project is co-funded by the European Union from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). National funding is provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. The total investment costs of the construction amount to CZK 3,376,323,986.
