SŽDC High Rate of Reconstructing Lines Continues

This year, Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) will spend a sum of CZK 43.7 billion for modernization and ensuring operability. This will concern both investments and railway lines’ reconstruction. As during last year, SŽDC succeeds in drawing allocated financial means, both from the EU (OPT, CEF) and from national resources (SFTI). Up to now, 47% has been drawn.

Preparation and implementation of investments is evenly phased. This year, we completed important constructions in Plzeň, Karlovy Vary or Čelákovice. Other revitalizations of lines are finished too, such as Lovosice – Louny or Týniště nad Orlicí – Broumov. At the same time, SŽDC launched more constructions of key importance this year: electrification of the lines Uničov – Olomouc and Šakvice – Hustopeče u Brna, modernization of the section Soběslav – Doubí u Tábora on Czech Rail Transit Corridor IV or four constructions in the region under Krušné hory (Ore Mountains). Dozens of other investments are being prepared “, said Mr. Jiří Svoboda, Director General of SŽDC.

At the same time, constructions already launched continue: modernization of the sections Sudoměřice – Votice and Beroun – Králův Dvůr; in the capital city, the section Praha-Hostivař – Praha hlavní nádraží and reconstruction of the Negrelli viaduct. In Moravia, works are going on between Hrušovany u Brna and Židlochovice as well as directly at Brno Main Station where an extensive reconstruction of signalling equipment is being implemented.
