SŽDC Reminds Teenagers of Safe Railway Rules during Summer Holidays

Inattention, showing off and needless hazard are the most common causes of severe injuries to children and young people on railway or in its immediate surroundings during holidays. That is why the Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) has prepared videos focusing on reminding the safe railway rules.

The creation of four videos is motivated by railway emergency statistics.  A short story is always accompanied by photographs of the consequences of real accidents. Every week in July, SŽDC will publish one post through social networks.

We mainly call for maximum attention and observance of all tried and tested rules. Holiday months are no exception to the rules. The task of Správa železniční dopravní cesty is to support prevention and education concerning railway safety. One way to achieve this is to communicate with young people through YouTube, for example”, said Mr. Jiří Svoboda, Director General of SŽDC.

The target group is primarily teenagers, but the call to respect safety rules applies to everyone in general, because one of the stories shows the consequences of telephoning while driving and subsequent inattention when entering a level crossing.

SŽDC Safe Railway Rules

  • Do not underestimate trains at level crossings, always look around!
  • Do not cross the railway outside pedestrian and level crossings, you risk your life!
  • Use overpasses and underpasses, avoid the tracks!
  • Do not destroy safety and signalling equipment, you threaten the lives of others!
  • Do not put objects on the tracks, you become a perpetrator of a crime!
  • Do not jump in and out of a moving train, you will at least get injured!
  • Do not climb up wagons out of operation or columns, you will be hit with an electrical charge!
  • Stand on the platform behind the safety line, otherwise you will be swept under a passing train by the air whirlwind!
