Vlkov u Tišnova and entire interstation section to Křižanov will be modernised

Today, Správa železnic announced two more important tenders, the first for the total reconstruction of the railway station Vlkov u Tišnova, the second concerns the subsequent line section to Křižanov. The constructions are part of a package of other projects aimed at the modernisation of the Havlíčkův Brod line.

As part of the modernisation of the railway station Vlkov, the platform and the pedestrian underpass will be completely cancelled and trains will now stop closer to the municipality, directly in the area behind the municipal office. The two new platforms will be accessible via inclined walkways. New stop Vlkov-Osová will significantly shorten the walking distance from both Vlkov and the nearby municipality of Osová. The existing station building will be replaced by a new technological building. The construction will affect the entire track facility in the station, it envisages reconstruction of the railway substructure and superstructure, bridges and culverts, overhead contact line, telecommunication and signalling equipment.

At the same time as the modernisation of the station, eleven kilometres of the line from Vlkov to Křižanov will be reconstructed. It will affect the entire interstation section and the stops in Osová Bítýška and Ořechov, which will undergo reconstruction and gain barrier-free access. The design of the first mentioned will meet the requirements of the municipality to the maximum extent possible. Passengers will have access to elevated platforms with a new information and orientation system. The reconstruction of the stops also reflects the future connection of this conventional line with the high-speed line. Increasing the radius of several curves will also allow the line speed to be increased from the current 100 km/h up to 160 km/h. Eight bridges, fourteen culverts and two retaining walls will be repaired during the construction. In Ořechov, a noise wall is being proposed to screen the kindergarten.

Preparatory work could begin this autumn. Both constructions will be in full swing next year. Increasing the radius of the curves and transposing them into a new track cannot be done in operation, so a complete seven-month suspension of train traffic is planned for next year, from March to September. The schedule of works and measures were discussed with the carriers and the municipalities concerned. A complete suspension of traffic is seen by all parties as preferable to carrying out the works over two construction seasons with a high incidence of short-term restrictions.

The estimated value of the contract Reconstruction of the railway station Vlkov u Tišnova is CZK 1,400,283,583. The value of the contract Reconstruction of the line section Vlkov u Tišnova (excl.) – Křižanov (excl.) is assumed to be CZK 2,065,575,014.

The implementation of both constructions is proposed to be co-funded by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund within the Transport Programme 2021–2027. National funded will be provided by Státní fond dopravní infrastruktury (State Fund for Transport Infrastructure).
