Today, Správa železniční dopravní cesty officially launched the reconstruction of the line section from Beroun to Králův Dvůr which is a part of Railway Transit Corridor III. The benefit of the construction will be a complete modernization of the railway station Beroun as well as an increase of line speed and a modernization of safety equipment. The contractor is an association of companies led by EUROVIA CS.

The subject of the construction is a section of the line of 5.7 kilometres. The optimization will increase line speed to 160 km/h. There will also be the modernization of safety equipment and modifications which enable faster passage of vehicles with tilting technology.

The works will take place on a passenger and marshalling yard of the railway station Beroun and in the subsequent section of the line Beroun – Králův Dvůr. The station in Králův Dvůr will also be transformed as it will acquire a new underpass. “Due to the construction, we will improve parameters of another section of Corridor III between Prague and West Bohemia. Not only the frequented station Beroun, but also the yet non-upgraded railway section will be under reconstruction”, stated Mr. Mojmír Nejezchleb, Deputy DG for Infrastructure and Modernisation of SŽDC.

“The construction deals with a reconstruction of the substructure and superstructure, a modification of crossings, bridges, underpasses and culverts as well as platforms including a barrier- free access for passengers”, stated Mr. Michael Gelo, Director of Železniční stavby EUROVIA CS.

The project also involves a modernization of signalling equipment with a remote control of the stations, building of communication and information devices, a reconstruction of the catenary, a modification of the station building in Beroun and a construction of a new technological object.
