Revitalisation of the line from Bludov to Jeseník improved its parameters considerably

15.11.2016

Ruda nad Moravou, 15 November 2016 – Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration) festively completed the revitalisation of the line in the section Bludov – Jeseník. The main asset of the project is especially a line speed increase and a journey time decrease. The revitalisation also contributed to higher safety, travelling comfort and operation reliability of the line.

”The greatest rewards for passengers are especially new platforms with barrier-free access and faster transport in this line section. Thanks to construction adaptations, It has been possible for instance to increase line speed between Bludov and Hanušovice from the original 65-75 kph up to 100 kph“, said Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC.

The project included reconstruction of the railway superstructure and substructure, bridges and culverts, station and line safety equipment and railway crossings. Remote safety equipment control rom the traffic control centre at Šumperk was also introduced on the line.

Considerable change occurred for railway stations Ruda nad Moravou and Bohdíkov as well as six railway stops: Bludov-Lázně, Bohutín, Bartoňov, Komňátka, Raškov and Hanušovice-Holba, for which new platforms were built with barrier-free access, new lighting, radio and roofing. Access to platforms at railway stations for passengers is now assured by a central passage leading from passenger buildings to platforms’ heads. The majority of works ended this November, total completion of the construction is expected for next May.

In accordance with the global objective of Operational Programme Transport Axis 3 which is an improvement of railway transport outside the Trans-European Network TEN-T, the project will assure higher transport availability, providing infrastructure capacity and railway transport quality for a prospective transport extent. Another positive impact of the project is higher safety on railway crossings.
