01.12.2016

Frýdlant nad Ostravicí, 1 December 2016 – Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration) improved parameters of a part of the railway line Frýdlant nad Ostravicí – Valašské Meziříčí. The main objective of the project was its putting into a technical shape which would correspond to EU parameters and standards.

The construction included adaptations of the railway superstructure and substructure, bridges and technological installations with the objective to increase line speed and railway operation safety in this section. The railway station Kunčice pod Ondřejníkem underwent an important change with creating barrier-free access to the platforms by an underpass with lifts as well as the railway stop Čeladná.

”The main asset of the revitalisation is especially improving travelling comfort and increasing safety on this railway line. Thanks to the project implementation, line speed could increase up to 100 kph which will reflect positively in shorter journey times. Passengers will also appreciate more comfortable and safer access to platforms at Kunčice pod Ondřejníkem railway station“, said Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC about the construction’s positive impacts.

The project also included reconstruction of 26 railway crossings in total and renovation of safety and signalling equipment. Electronic safety equipment remotely controlled from the station Frýdlant nad Ostravicí has been built at Kunčice pod Ondřejníkem station. Axle counters were installed in the whole section for clear capacity control of station tracks and open line tracks to replace the original track circuits.

In accordance with the global objective of Operational Programme Transport Priority Axis 3 which is an improvement of railway transport outside the Trans-European Transport Network TEN-T, higher transport availability was achieved, operation costs could be decreased and infrastructure capacity as well as railway operation quality for a prospective transport extent was assured.
