Journey times were shortened, safety and travelling comfort increased on three railway lines in Liberec Region

24.05.2016

Liberec, 24 May 2016 – Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Railway Infrastructure Administration) improved parameters on three railway lines in the Liberec Region. The main objective of these projects was achieving a technical state corresponding to EU parameters and standards.

The following projects were implemented:

Line 030 Jaroměř – Liberec in the section Stará Paka – Malá Skála
Line 030 Jaroměř – Liberec in the section Turnov – Liberec
Line 036 Liberec – Tanvald

Projects on lines mentioned above included adaptations of the railway superstructure and substructure, platforms, bridges, culverts, railway crossings and walls. Electrical heating of switches was adapted as well in order to assure higher operation safety and functionality especially during winter. Renewal of selected distribution systems and elements of safety and signalling installations was also part of the construction.

”One of the most important assets of all construction works carried out is especially higher travelling comfort and safety on these railway lines. The projects’ implementation allowed full usage of possibilities offered by the current infrastructure in the line sections concerned which will bring shorter journey times, better turnovers of the train-sets and improved train connections. Railway transport will thus become more attractive for the travelling public“, said Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC.

All projects mentioned above will contribute considerably to better transport availability, decreasing operation costs and ensuring infrastructure capacity as well as railway transport quality for a prospective transport extent. Another positive impact will be an increase of railway operation smoothness and safety.
