This year, the Ministry of Transport branch purchased again energy effectively on the stock exchange. The Ministry centralised its consumption with consumption of its organisations and purchased almost 300 thousand megawatt hours (MWh) of electrical power and more than 175 thousand MWh of natural gas for the next year by the intermediary of Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration - SŽDC). The purchase was carried out in July on the Czech Moravian Commodity Exchange Kladno and allowed decreasing costs of the whole branch by 30 million Czech crowns from year to year.

”After the purchase for the whole transport branch from two years ago which brought savings of almost 40 million Czech crowns and one year ago which decreased costs by another 80 million Czech crowns we continued increasing demanded volumes of electrical power by 24 thousand MWh and natural gas by 15 thousand MWh. In addition to the Ministry of Transport and SŽDC, other organisation joined the purchase as well:  České dráhy, a.s. (Czech Railways), the Czech Roads and Motorways Directorate, the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure, ČD Cargo, the Centre for Road Transport Services, Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic, the State Water Navigation Administration, the Waterways Directorate of the Czech Republic, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Czech Republic, the Transport Research Centre, the Railway Research Centre Institute, j.s.c. .and DPOV, a.s. For the fourth year we have been purchasing on the Kladno commodity exchange which is the most competitive milieu for energy supplying”, said Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC..

Next year, the price of energy will decrease compared to current prices of all acquired products. Most of all, the price of natural gas for small-scale consumers will decrease from year to year by more than 14%. The price of low-voltage electrical power will decrease by 12% compared to this year and for high-voltage power by 8.5%. The price of natural gas for wholesale customers will decrease by more than 7%.  Due to a large amount of the procured delivery, the largest savings for this product from year to year amount to 8 million Czech crowns.
