Railway Firemen Took Over New Water Tanks

Today, representatives of Rescue Fire Service of Správa železniční dopravní cesty (HZS SŽDC) took over in Jičín the first ten special water tanks vehicles. Investments into railway firemen’s emergency equipment will amount up to CZK 300 million this year and they will acquire 48 vehicles. 

”This is not only a renewal of current equipment requiring modernization but also a purchase of quite new types of vehicles. Only in June, railway firemen had 677 interventions from which 459 were exceptional events, 107 traffic accidents and 218 preventive and technical interventions. Railway firemen’s work has a large extent, thus requiring also special vehicles. Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Transport, the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure and Správa železniční dopravní cesty as such, we will be have now modern equipment at our disposal“, specified Mr. David Soukup, Director of SŽDC Fire Rescue Service.

Today’s festive handing over is part of the first stage within the project Renewal of the rolling stock fleet – SŽDC Fire Rescue Service – special vehicles, financed from resources provided by the State Fund for Transport infrastructure. More specifically it concerns standard water tanks for firemen CAS 20 and CAS 30 on the SCANIA bogie. They are designed for firemen units in Havlíčkův Brod, Chomutov, Přerov, Liberec and Kralupy nad Vltavou. During the following stages, the firemen’s fleet will be completed by more water tanks and a chemical technical car on the FUSO CANTER bogie used for disposal of dangerous stuff leakage. A new salvage special vehicle on the SCANIA bogie will also be added as well as the mobile crane LIEBHERR or an automobile platform for work in heights. It is a container platform and several bodies can be placed on a single bogie.
