Today, Správa železniční dopravní cesty festively opened the repaired passenger building at the station Kostomlaty nad Labem. Besides the improvement of the overall appearance, works resulted in an increase of comfort for passengers using railway transport.

The repairs of the building at the railway station on the line from Prague via Lysá nad Labem to Nymburk started in October last year. It included not only a complete modification of the facade and filling of holes, but also static securing of the western gable of the building, prefabrication and implementation of tiling. In addition, passengers have gained more enjoyable environment due to new equipment. The builders also carried out a complete illumination adjustment and a station designation on the passenger building.

“The station in Kostomlaty nad Labem was one of the first ones we started to repair after taking over from České dráhy. Passengers will surely appreciate easier and safer moving at the train station. Even the Czech writer Bohumil Hrabal, who served here as a dispatcher during the Second World War, would be surely satisfied,” said Mr. Tomáš Drmola, Deputy DG of SŽDC for Assets Management.

A demolition of an already unsatisfactory coal warehouse was also a part of the construction. Additionally, a new gutter sidewalk was built around the perimeter of the building and coating of wood and metal was made. The company STRABAG Rail a.s. carried out the works the total value of which amounted to CZK 3.3 million.
