Investments of CZK 52 Million in Liberec Region This Year Mostly in Two Station Buildings

The following stage of the Turnov station building renovation started last autumn and should be completed this August. The former restaurant will be replaced by fast food with a self-service counter. Another part of the original restaurant will be occupied by a municipal library; the remaining free space will be taken by the Czech Post office with letter and package services for the public, being shifted from the other side of the station building where only technical background remains. ”We will preserve historical ceilings in the fast food and library premises and restore old cast-iron columns in Art Nouveau style on the platform; soffits will acquire their original shape as well“, said Mr. Tomáš Drmola, Deputy Director General for Property Management.

The second phase of the investment in Turnov will cost approximately CZK 30 million. This financial sum will be invested mostly in renovation of internal surface, the building new commercial and service premises, exchanging apertures’ filling, reconstructing underground utilities, renovating external surface and repairing roofing on the platform. The third stage to follow will include repairs of the building’s operation part with the dispatcher room. The exact term of launch for these construction works is not known yet.

In the second half of the year, a complex reconstruction of the passenger building in Semily will be launched. It will cost approximately CZK 35.2 million and will include a renovation of the building’s external shape together with reinforced surface and the platform roofing, Public lavatories will be relocated into the passenger building and the original lavatories will be torn down. Sanitation of rising humidity will be carried out, the building interior will be adapted and renovated. Among other projects of passenger buildings repairs in Liberec Region we can name e.g. a complex renovation of the building in Blíževedly for CZK 6,2 million; next year, repairs should start on passenger buildings in Liberec-Horní Růžodol, Horní Police or Velké Hamry.
