CZK 42 Million for Station Buildings Repairs in North Bohemia This Year

11.04.2018

This year, Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) invests approximately CZK 42 million for the implementation and preparation of selected station buildings’ repairs in the Ústí nad Labem Region. More financial means will be used by the stations’ manager for project preparation of constructions in the following years and for implementation of lesser investments. Preparation of some larger projects requires more time so that they will be carried out only after 2019.

Repairs of station buildings in this region started shortly after SŽDC took over their management in the half of 2016. Projects being carried out in that year and at the beginning of last year brought especially smaller partial changes of the stations from the point of view of travelling comfort; as an example we can name repairs of access roads for pedestrians to Platform No 1 in Štětí, Boletice nad Labem, Sebuzín, Straškov or Úpořiny which have not been maintained for a long time as well as renovations of internal premises, exchanging windows and doors and modernisation of furniture. Besides that, an extensive exchange of roof covering took place at Chomutov Station and quite dilapidated windows and doors were replaced at many other railway stations

Last year, more extensive investments were launched which will bring quite a new view of station buildings. These include especially complex renovations of the building’s coating and roof including a potential roofing and surface of Platform No 1. These investments will be completed up to summer holidays this year at the latest. This concerns especially railway stations Mlýny, Postoloprty and Velké Březno. ”This year, we intend to start similar repairs at stations Štětí, Dolní Žleb and the Litoměřice město railway stop. The most important investment in the region is the renovation of Litoměřice horní nádraží which is connected to the trackage reconstruction completed in 2016“, said Mr. Tomáš Drmola, Deputy Director General for Property Management.

Besides a renovation of the historical façade and exchanging the apertures’ filling, the platform roofing and the monumental entrance stairs, substantial changes of the check-in premises interior will occur at this railway station including new public lavatories, furniture, lighting and an information and orientation system. Repairs are being carried out under supervision and in cooperation with the city of Litoměřice as the building is situated on the edge of a historical monuments’ zone.

Another part of the investments consists in constructions which are necessary for station buildings’ operation such as exchanging point lever switch stands and creating a protected escape route in the high rise station building in Most or repairs and a considerable improvement of administration offices for dispatchers and other SŽDC employees. In 2017, approximately CZK 64 million was spent for these constructions in the Ústí nad Labem Region.

As far as repairs of other station buildings in the period to follow are concerned, investment preparations for the most advanced ones are reconstructions at Bílina, Roudnice nad Labem, Benešov nad Ploučnicí and Krásná Lípa stations. Surveys are being carried out for more challenging reconstructions at stations Teplice v Čechách and Most in order to set the reconstruction’s extent. This year, investment preparation will be launched amounting CZK 22 million; a project of safeguarding passenger buildings at main stations in Děčín and Ústí nad Labem for a total sum of CZK 15.5 million will be implemented this year.
