CZK 58 million for Repairs of Railway Stations Buildings in Plzeň Region This Year

”The most expected project in Western Bohemia is of course a renovation of the passenger building at Plzeň Main Station. Due to the building size and the demanding project preparation we ask passengers for patience. We would like to start reconstruction in 2020. On the contrary we have finished repairs at the nearby Rokycany Station where SŽDC considerably improved the building functionality and shape by construction adaptations“, says Mr. Tomáš Drmola, Deputy Director General for Property Management.

During this operation, sanitary facilities for passengers were completely reconstructed, of course barrier-free with separate lavatories for persons on wheelchairs. The former platform’s roofing was newly painted, repairs of chimneys and the façade at the retaining wall are finished and the surface of barrier-free access to the check-in hall was adapted. The floor on corridors of the building’s operation part was renovated as well. ”The biggest challenge was renovating the entrance stairs which was considerably damaged after many years of use. We had to dismantle it into separate granite blocks, fill its new foundations with concrete and assemble the stairs once again from blocks together with a safeguard against shifting“, adds Mr. Tomáš Drmola. Total investments reached CZK 3.5 million

This year, stations buildings being renovated in Plzeň Region are those e.g. in Plasy with an ongoing complete renovation of the roof and façade including sheet metal parts as well as technical installations and the interior. The planned investment amount equals CZK 9.6 million. In Hrádek u Sušice, repairs of the external coating are being carried out se as well as boarding painting, an exchange of windows and doors and renovations of the interlocking plant and lavatories roof in the building for a sum of CZK 3.6 million. Works in Velké Hydčice include repairs of the roof, the waiting room and public lavatories (including a new truss above), an exchange of windows, doors and the heating boiler for CZK 5.4 million. In Staňkov, the roof, façade, roofing construction and the waiting room are being renovated for a price up to CZK 9.4 million.

In  Železná Ruda-Alžbětín, the first stage of renovation works on the lower part of the building and the platform roofing took place last year. This year, repairs will continue on the remaining part of the building for CZK 4.2 million. The roof and damaged façade parts will be renovated, paintings and sheet metal parts will be completed together with other construction modifications. In Nemilkov, the external coating and roof will be repaired for a price of CZK 2.1 million; windows and doors were replaced last year already. On this construction, new sewerage is in preparation for the next phase. Approximately CZK 2.7 million will be spent for repairs of water-proofing, the façade, new filling of apertures, building a new lavatory and renovations of the waiting room and floors in the station’s office in Nezvěstice. This year, repairs of the station building should start in Poběžovice. ”Next year, we would like to start more complex renovations of station buildings e.g. in  Tachov, Horažďovice and Sušice, this depends however on investments’ approval and financial means allocated”,  adds Mr. Tomáš Drmola.
