Travelling is more comfortable on the “Sázava Pacific Train”

30.06.2016

Prague, 30 June 2016 – Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Railway Infrastructure Administration) improved parameters of the so-called Sázava Pacific Train, i.e. the line Praha – Vrané nad Vltavou – Čerčany with a branch to Dobříš. The main objective of this project was achieving a technical state for this line corresponding to EU parameters and standards.

The construction included adaptations of the railway superstructure and substructure, bridges and culverts, an exchange of unsatisfactory constructions on railway crossings and savings of the ballast and platforms at selected railway stops. Lighting and local cables were also renewed.

”The asset of adaptations carried out on the line Praha - Čerčany and Dobříš is especially an increase in travelling comfort and safety. Passengers will most surely appreciate a decrease of journey times as well”, says Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC.

In accordance with the global objective of Operational Programme Transport Priority Axis 3 which is an improvement of railway transport outside the Trans-European Transport Network TEN-T, higher transport availability was achieved, operation costs were decreased and infrastructure capacity and railway operation quality was assured for a prospective transport extent. Another positive impact of the project is the elimination of speed drops, an increase in railway transport safety and smoothness.

Total estimated costs of the construction designated as Line 210 Praha – Vrané nad Vltavou – Čerčany and Vrané nad Vltavou – Dobříš amounted to CZK 251,454,745 (VAT excluded). The project was co-financed by the European Union from its Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Transport up to a maximum amount of CZK 199,470,197. National financing was provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. The construction’s supplier was the company STRABAG Rail a.s.
