Poříčany Station Has Modernized Platforms With Barrier-Free Access

19.12.2018

Reconstruction of Poříčany railway station on the line Praha – Kolín brought barrier-free access to all four platforms and an extension of the underpass under the whole station. Investments of Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) amounted to a sum of CZK 125 million; the construction was carried out by the company Chládek a Tintěra, Pardubice.

The construction included a complete reconstruction of platforms with roofing and of the underpass. Furniture was exchanged completely; information tables were installed on platforms and in the dispatching hall. ”The whole station is now barrier-free. For accessing Platform No 1, we built a ramp at the post office; there are lifts on every platform now“, said Mr. Petr Hofhanzl, Director of the Civil Engineering Administration West and added: ”The construction has a positive impact in eliminating the barrier separating the village of Poříčany into two parts which consists precisely in the impassable railway station. By extending the underpass, this obstacle has been eliminated so that both local inhabitants and railway passengers can safely pass under the station trackage now“.

”On behalf of the supplier, I would like to praise the architectonic solution of the designer which embellished the railway station. My thanks go also to the ordering entity for a professional approach of its employees during the order’s implementation as well as to all passengers for their understanding during construction works when operation at platforms was restricted“, said Mr. Přemysl Krejsa, Construction Director from the company Chládek a Tintěra, Pardubice.

The reconstruction took a year and a half and included also adaptations of the railway superstructure and locally the railway substructure as well, modifications of information and signalling technology (radio equipment, the camera and information system, relocation of corresponding cables), the installation of benches and waste bins and an orientation system including components for handicapped passengers. Access roads were adapted as well.
