Tábor, 27 June 2016 – Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Railway Infrastructure Administration) improved parameters of the South Bohemian line from Tábor to Ražice. The main objective of the project was to increase the line’s technical state to a level corresponding to European parameters and standards.

The works were carried out in line sections Tábor – Balkova Lhota and Záhoří – Písek. They included renovations of the railway substructure and superstructure, partial components of bridges, and culverts. Furthermore, concrete sleepers and rails were replaced. Structural modifications were also performed on most railway crossings which were affected by the exchange of the superstructure. The modernisation also included safety devices and local cable lines.

“The main benefit of the adjustments made in the railway section between Tábor and Písek was an increase of travel comfort and safety on the line” said Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC.

In line with the global objective of Priority Axis 3 of the Operational Programme Transport, which is to improve rail transport outside trans-European transport network TEN-T, traffic accessibility was increased, operational costs were reduced, and railway capacity and quality of railway traffic for prospective transport volumes were secured.
