Travelling on the line Ústí nad Orlicí – Letohrad will be more comfortable

Letohrad, 19 May 2016 – Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Railway Infrastructure Administration) will improve parameters of the line Ústí nad Orlicí – Lichkov in the section between stations v from Ústí to Letohrad. The main objective of this project is achieving a technical state corresponding to EU parameters and standards.

The construction included renewal of the railway superstructure and substructure, platforms at stops Dolní Dobrouč, Hnátnice and Dolní Libchavy. More extensive construction works will be carried out at Lanšperk railway station where a whole a whole unused track at the passenger building station will be removed in addition to repairs of two platforms. Builder will construct a new external platform in such newly created space and ensure a simpler trackage configuration. A new catenary will be installed and lighting will be exchanged; safety and signalling equipment and the local cable system will be also renewed.

”The asset of all adaptations carried out in the line section Ústí nad Orlicí – Letohrad is especially increased travelling comfort and safety on the line. Passengers will be also pleased by shorter journey times and a possibility of more safe and comfortable motion on modernised platforms“, said Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC.

In accordance with the global objective of Operational Programme Transport Priority Axis 1 which is an improvement of railway transport on the Trans-European Transport Network TEN-T, higher transport availability was achieved as well as decreasing operational costs and ensuring infrastructure capacity and railway operation quality for the prospective transport extent. Another positive impact of the project will be achieving safer and smoother railway transport.

Total estimated costs of the construction designated as Line 024 Ústí nad Orlicí – Lichkov, section Ústí nad Orlicí – Letohrad amount up to 507,676,565 CZK (VAT excluded). The project is co-financed by the European Union from its Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Transport up to a maximum amount of 384,840,906 CZK. National financing is provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. The construction’s suppliers are the companies Chládek a Tintěra, Pardubice a.s. and Porr a.s.
