Brno, 28 June 2016 – Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Railway Infrastructure Administration) has modernised the railway section between Brno-Maloměřice and Brno-Židenice. The main benefit of the project is an increase of the line speed and higher comfort and safety of passengers.

The modernisation of the section, which is part of the lines Brno – Česká Třebová and Brno – Havlíčkův Brod, also included reconstruction of the railway superstructure and substructure, modernisation of power and overhead lines, installation of anti-noise walls, reconstruction of bridges and culverts, and liquidation of subway in the station Brno-Maloměřice.

"One of the main benefits of the construction works performed was an increase of the line speed and hence shortening of travel times, which will certainly please passengers. In the direction of Havlíčkův Brod, it is now possible to travel at speeds from 90 to 110 kilometres per hour and, in the direction to Česká Třebová, even up to 115 kilometres per hour”. said Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC.

The project also included strengthening of safety elements on a three-km long section. Safety and communication equipment was also modernised on the branch line Brno-Židenice.
