Second Corridor Line Section from Petrovice u Karviné to Břeclav is Equipped with ETCS System
Správa železnic has completed the installation of the European Train Control System (ETCS) on the line section from Petrovice u Karviné to Břeclav. As a result, Czech railway network has been extended by another 204 km of lines, which are equipped with a modern train control system. Construction work began in mid-2017 and lasted three and a half years.

Fanta's building Reconstruction will continue with interior renovation
The ongoing repairs to the facade and roof of the historic part of Prague's main railway station will be followed by the transformation of its interior. Správa železnic has launched a tender for the contractor of the first phase of the reconstruction of the interior of the Fanta's building, which mainly includes the halls on the ground floor of the Art Nouveau monument. The estimated cost of construction work is approximately 250 million crowns, it should start in April.

Správa železnic Has Chosen the Winning Architectural Design of the New High-speed Terminal Praha východ
A total of 21 designs from Czech and foreign architectural offices came to the first architectural and urban design competition for a high-speed railway terminal in the Czech Republic. The winner of the competition became the design of “MP + ov Nehvizdy 2020” by the author duo Jiří Opočenský and Štěpán Valouch.

The Central Commission of the Ministry of Transport approved the Feasibility Study of the New railway connection Prague – Dresden. Based on this concept document, the preparation of this branch of the future rapid service network will take place now.

First High-Speed Line Will be Designed by a Czech-French-British Consortium
The documentation for zoning decision and the documentation for the environmental impact assessment (EIA) of High-Speed Line Polabí (HSL Elbe Flatlands) between Praha-Běchovice and Poříčany will be prepared for Správa železnic by the Czech-French-British association of the companies SUDOP PRAHA, Egis Rail and Mott MacDonald.

Správa železnic Plans to Reconstruct 200 Crossings this Year
Správa železnic continues with increasing safety at railway crossings. It reconstructed a total of 155 level crossings for more than 1.5 billion crowns last year. It plans to modify another 200 crossings with an estimated amount of almost 2 billion crowns this year.

Správa železnic Opens a New Praha-Eden Stop on Sunday
On Sunday, simultaneously with the beginning of the validity of the timetable for 2021, a new stop Praha-Eden will be opened for passengers. The stop is located at the line relocation between the stations Praha-Hostivař and Praha-Vršovice. Together with this change, the trains will leave off serving the existing line, including the stop in Praha-Strašnice. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Karel Havlíček inspected the progress of the construction and the new stop today, accompanied by the Director General of Správa železnic Jiří Svoboda.

Next Part of the Line from Pardubice to Hradec Králové Will Become Double-track
Správa železnic will start modernising another part of the busy line between the two most important centres of Eastern Bohemia next year. Therefore, it announced a tender for the contractor for the reconstruction of the line section from Pardubice-Rosice nad Labem to Stéblová. Its main benefit will be the construction of the second track, including the bridge over the Elbe in Pardubice. The line speed will increase at the same time. Completion of the construction is planned for the end of 2023, its estimated total investment costs are close to CZK 2.6 billion.

Breakthrough in Preparation of Railway to the Airport: Správa železnic Will Continue to Develop the Southern Tunnel Variant under Střešovice
Správa železnic has taken an important step in the preparation of the modernisation of the railway line from Prague to Kladno with a branch to Václav Havel Airport. Based on the expert's opinion on the most suitable variant of the tunnel route under Prague's Střešovice, prepared by the team of the Ruhr University in Bochum, representatives of the Czech Geological Survey and vibration specialist Milan Brož, decided to continue preparing the southern variant of the tunnel between Dejvice and Veleslavín. With this intention and the results of expert opinions, it also acquainted the members of the Assembly of the Municipal District of Prague 6 today. The Assembly expressed support for the implementation of this option in its resolution.

Správa železnic tested speed of 200 km/h in Ejpovice tunnel
Series of trial runs at the speed of 200 km/h took place in the Ejpovice tunnel between Pilsen and Rokycany. Their main purpose was to gain practical knowledge about the behaviour of the traction power supply system in a long single-track tunnel at this speed. The test runs were preceded by measurements by diagnostic means of Správa železnic and a technical-safety test was performed, which confirmed the suitability of the relevant line section for run at 200 km/h.
