Line modernisation from Domažlice to state border with Germany has its designers
Správa železnic selected the designers for the modernisation of the line section between Domažlice and the state border with Germany. The project documentation will be prepared by the companies VECTORAMA and SUDOP Praha, which submitted a bid of CZK 43,789,000. The actual construction work is planned for the years 2027 to 2030.

Hranice will get new station by Swiss architects
Správa železnic today announced the winner of the architectural and urban design competition for the new building of Hranice na Moravě railway station. The winning design comes from the Swiss-Czech consortium Nemec Taller Architektur, which consists of architect Lukáš Taller and transport construction designer Miroslav Vondřich. Their project impressed the jury with its elegant design and ability to adapt to the future transport needs of the city.

Jihlava město railway station in 2026: new station building and modern platforms
The reconstruction of the city railway station in Jihlava may begin, Správa železnic has selected the contractor for the works. The construction will be carried out by Skanska, which submitted the most favourable bid of CZK 1,266,866,061. The railway station, which is located close to the regional city centre, will completely change its appearance. New platforms will be created, which will be accessed by an underpass. The obsolete station building will be replaced by a new building, which will also serve as a background for the newly built transport terminal. Work is scheduled to start in August and be completed in mid-2026.

European funds will help the modernisation of Czech railway network with more than 11 billion crowns
Ten other projects of Správa železnic will be supported by the European Union through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The largest part of the allocated package of the third call for the subsidy title for the period 2021-2027 is directed to the extensive reconstruction of the key station Česká Třebová. Správa železnic also managed to obtain subsidies totalling CZK 11.5 billion for the preparation of the project of the high-speed line Praha – Brno – Břeclav, for the preparation of the modernisation of the section from Kolín via Mělník to Děčín, or for the further development of modern signalling equipment.

Správa železnic received almost 60 million crowns from European programme JTM
Správa železnic continues to successfully obtain grants from the European Union. It will now apply the Just Transition Mechanism (JTM) programme, which combines a loan from the European Investment Bank and grants. In the sixth call of the programme, three projects in the Ústí nad Labem Region have been awarded a grant, the total amount of the subsidy amounts to CZK 59.4 million.

Safe overpass will be used to get to Velká Chuchle, pedestrian underpass will be built
Frequent waiting in front of the closed barrier in Velká Chuchle will soon be history of the past, Správa železnic has chosen the contractor for the construction of the overpass. Companies Váhostav and Colas were successful in the tender procedure and submitted the best bid of CZK 474.6 million. According to the contract, they will first draw up the project documentation, and then the actual construction work will start next spring. These will last until the beginning of 2027. The completion of the overpass will bring a significant increase in road and rail traffic safety.

Exhibition compares current and future bridge at Výtoň
Správa železnic today launched an outdoor panel exhibition offering a comparison of the existing and planned design of the railway bridge at Výtoň. The exhibition, entitled Better Connections, Better City Life, focuses on both aesthetic and practical aspects and highlights the benefits that the new bridge will bring not only to transport but also to the capital and its residents.

Smíchov Station is to change, it will offer more services for passengers
The railway station in Prague's Smíchov district will be transformed into a modern transport terminal in the upcoming years. It will also include the existing station building, which will undergo a complete reconstruction. Správa železnic has now selected the designers of the construction – the companies SUDOP Praha and SUDOP EU. Their tender price was CZK 39.5 million. Construction work will take place between 2026 and 2028 in coordination with the construction of the Smíchov Terminal.

Trains have returned to Braník Bridge, line will help freight service and during closures
Works on the double-tracking of the Braník Bridge have progressed to the final stage, trains started to run on one track here today. Správa železnic plans to complete the entire construction and start full operation this October. The bridge and the connecting section to Krč are an important part of the Prague railway network. It plays an important role in freight transport, but the importance of the line in passenger transport will increase significantly in the near future.

Going to Poland is faster and safer
Today Správa železnic festively completed the reconstruction of the line section from Dětmarovice to Petrovice u Karviné and to the state border with Poland. On the line, which is an important link to our northern neighbours, two stations and one stop have been modernised. Passengers are now offered barrier-free access to the platform and comfortable boarding to the train. The construction works have been underway since 2020, the total cost exceeds CZK 3 billion.
