Passenger Buildings Reconstruction Works Start in Přerov and Lipník nad Bečvou
Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) started reconstruction works of two passenger buildings at the same time in the Olomouc Region. These projects became the first investment of a broader scope in the region to be followed by other projects next year. The reconstruction of the historically preserved Přerov Railway Station will focus mainly on the internal and external premises next to the first platform including the hall and the roof. The Lipník nad Bečvou Station building also awaits a comprehensive modernization. The required improvements of premises for passengers along with the revitalization of the external parts of the building are also taken into account. The total investment cost of both buildings amounts to less than 33 million CZK.

On Monday, the New Railway Stop Havířov Střed Will Start Serving Passengers
SŽDC completed the construction of a new railway stop Havířov střed. The final successful technical and safety test will allow regular and through trains to stop there starting Monday 16 October 2017 already. For hundreds of passengers from the neighbourhood, travelling by train is now considerably shorter. The construction was taking place since 1 March this year with costs for its implementation reaching almost up to 37 million Czech crowns.

Modernised Main Station in Pardubice Will Bring Higher Comfort to Passengers, Trains Will Be Faster and More Silent
The Central Committee of the Ministry of Transport approved the project intent of modernisation of the railway junction Pardubice which was submitted by the future construction investor – Správa železniční dopravní cesty. Modernisation of railway infrastructure at Pardubice Main Station will allow decreasing noise and increasing speed of passing trains. Passengers will have at their disposal repaired centre platforms with barrier-free access, a new orientation system, station radio, lifts and escalators. Estimated investment costs will exceed CZK 4 billion. During the first phase, the construction will be financed from national resources; however, co-financing by the EU is also expected. The construction should be launched already in 2019; works will take three years to complete.

Modernisation of Plzeň Main Station Allowed Trains to Pass Up to Four Times Faster
Správa železniční dopravní cesty festively completed the first part of modernisation of the Main Station in Plzeň. The project’s objective was adapting the station in such a way to be able to exercise in full the function of the most important junction in the region on Rail Transit Corridor III as well as a crossing for individual lines that are part of the Trans-European Transport Network.

Roofing of Prague Main Station Has Been Reconstructed
Správa železniční dopravní cesty festively completed an extensive reconstruction of the roofing at Praha hlavní nádraží (Prague Main Station) which is one of the most important railway junctions in the Czech Republic. Besides repairing a historical monument, the main project’s objective was also increasing safety and comfort for passengers.

Repairs of Railway Lines Help Fighting Noise
Decreasing noise from railway operation is helped not only by modernisation of lines together with a complete exchange of tracks within global line modifications. Noise levels can also be positively influenced by exchanging worn-down rails with worsened technical parameters in connection with repairing their fastening to sleepers. Experience from the line Praha – Beroun confirms this.

The Annual Conference of the “Railway Transport for Regions” Project Followed up on Meetings in Individual Regions
Today, representatives of the railway infrastructure manager, the national carrier and all 14 regions of the Czech Republic met in the Prague TOP Hotel for a conference within the perennial project of Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) and České dráhy (ČD) named Railway Transport for Regions. The annual meeting followed up on previous meetings with representatives of local governments in individual regions which took place this year.
