Czechia has its first line with exclusive operation of trains under ETCS system
Správa železnic completed the modernisation and electrification of the busy regional line Olomouc – Uničov. It is the first line in the Czech Republic where the European Train Control System (ETCS) will monitor all train journeys. The mobile part of this system must therefore be in operation on all trains that run on the line. Travel by train on this section will be reduced from 40 minutes to less than half an hour.

Designer will prepare a technical design of high-speed line near Ústí nad Labem
Správa železnic announced another public tender for design works for high-speed lines (HSL). Documentation for zoning decision will be created for the section from Ústí nad Labem to the portal of the Ore Mountains Tunnel (Krušnohorský tunel). The contractor will also prepare a design for a maintenance base in Chabařovice, from which the line will be serviced.

Record budget will enable major railway projects to start in 2023
Upcoming construction season presents a number of significant challenges and milestones for Správa železnic. Construction of several line sections to Prague Airport, including the modernisation of Masaryk Station, should get into full swing. The long-awaited start of the modernisation of the Praha-Smíchov and Praha-Bubny stations and the acceleration of the project preparation of high-speed lines are expected. Mid-2023 will bring major relief for passengers on the first corridor, where long-distance trains will return. Financing of the constructions should be based on the record budget in the history of Správa železnic in the estimated amount of CZK 61.9 billion, with the possibility of increasing up to CZK 70.4 billion thanks to the expected EIB loan.

Modernisation of last line section between Prague and Lysá nad Labem has started
Správa železnic officially launched the modernisation of the railway between Mstětice and Čelákovice. This is the last section of the very busy suburban line from Prague to Lysá nad Labem that has not been repaired yet. Construction will be carried out by the consortium of EUROVIA CS, Subterra, GJW Praha and Elektrizace železnic Praha for CZK 2.172 billion excluding VAT. The preparatory work has already begun and will start after the New Year and last until November 2025.

Správa železnic has selected the future form of the bridge at Prague Výtoň
Správa železnic today presented to the public the winning design of the future form of the triple-track bridge over the Vltava River at the site of the existing railway bridge at Prague Výtoň. All 12 registered architectural teams met the basic conditions for participation in the so-called competitive dialogue. The total bid price had a weight of 20 percent in the evaluation, while the remaining 80 percent was attributed to the quality of the proposed solution. The eleven-member evaluation committee selected the proposal from the company 2T engineering as the best. The company will now prepare a more detailed study that will serve as a basis for the creation of documentation for joint building permit.

Správa železnic launches construction of two new passenger buildings in Karlovy Vary region
Aš and Chodov, two stations where Správa železnic starts the construction of new passenger buildings. In the westernmost part of the Czech Republic – Aš – the existing passenger building will be replaced by a new one. Similarly, in Chodov in Karlovy Vary region, a new building will be constructed near the entrance to the platform underpass as part of the construction of modern platforms. The buildings are proposed for funding from the European Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) under the National Recovery Plan.

Správa železnic looking for designer of high-speed line in Prague
Správa železnic has launched another public procurement for a supplier of documentation for zoning decision (DZD) for a new network of high-speed lines. The designer shall prepare the technical design for the eighth section of the network between Vršovice and Běchovice in Prague.

Traffic on fourth corridor is managed from new control room in Traffic Control Centre Prague
Traffic Control Centre (TCC) of Správa železnic in Prague opened a new traffic control room to manage a part of the IV. Railway Transit Corridor at its Balabenka facility. It is currently used for remote control of traffic between Praha-Uhříněves and Tábor and will gradually expand its scope across the whole section Praha-Uhříněves – Horní Dvořiště state border.

Line between Brno and Blansko is two months before opening
The modernisation of the line between Brno, Adamov and Blansko is entering final stage. Reconstruction of the railway superstructure and all related infrastructure elements is being carried out in the whole section. Work is proceeding according to schedule so that trains can return to the corridor after a one-year closure from 11 December. After the line is put into operation, the completion of the construction will take place, but it will not have significant impact on railway traffic.

Further dozens of level crossings removed from lines of Správa železnic
Správa železnic successfully continues to reduce the number of level crossings on its network. Nearly seventy level crossings of the railway with other transport routes have already been eliminated since the beginning of 2022. Besides the modifications that improve the safety of level crossings, the reduction of their number represents another important way to increase safety of both rail and road traffic and their smoothness. The safest crossing is one that does not exist at all.
