Trains Will Runs at Speeds of 160 kph between Uničov and Olomouc
The investment launched festively today by Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) in Šternberk will bring unrivalled journey times trains between Uničov and Olomouc. This will be allowed by electrification of a section almost 30 kilometres long together with a speed increase up to 160 kph. The completion of the construction with total costs amounting almost to CZK 4.8 billion is expected in 2022.

Dozens of Bridges from Prestressed Concrete Will Undergo Detailed Diagnostics
Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) continues checking bridges from prestressed concrete. The checks started in the final quarter of last year after the collapsing of bridge constructions both in Europe and in the Czech Republic. 167 bridges with prestressed decks on the SŽDC network, 63 from these were selected for more detailed diagnostics.

SŽDC Launches Pilot Project for Intelligent Level Crossings
Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) decided to fight actively with drivers who behave carelessly and take risks at railway crossings, thus infringing not only the Act on Road Traffic but also endangering lives and health of innocent people in cars or trains. A new camera system is being installed at railway crossings throughout the Czech Republic; its outputs can be used during administrative proceedings as well and can serve for issuing fines to the road car operator. The first railway crossing equipped in this way already functions at Úvaly u Prahy.

SŽDC Cooperates with Regions on Preparation of Moravská brána HSL
In August, Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) signed contracts with the Moravia-Silesia and Olomouc Regions which are necessary for the updating of Territorial Development Principles in both regions. Their objective is to delimitate a corridor and to determine the construction’s public usefulness for the section of the future high-speed line between Prosenice and Ostrava-Svinov (HSL Moravská brána – Moravian Gate).

SŽDC Renovates Railway Bridge near Zahrádky u České Lípy
A fundamental reconstruction is being carried out on the bridge spanning over the natural monument “Peklo” (Hell) near Zahrádky u České Lípy railway station situated on the line Lovosice – Česká Lípa. Among others, Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) exchanges the steel construction dating from 1911 which was in a technically unsatisfactory state. The construction supplier is the company Strabag Rail with total investment costs amounting to a sum of CZK 50 million (VAT excluded).

SŽDC High Rate of Reconstructing Lines Continues
This year, Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) will spend a sum of CZK 43.7 billion for modernization and ensuring operability. This will concern both investments and railway lines’ reconstruction. As during last year, SŽDC succeeds in drawing allocated financial means, both from the EU (OPT, CEF) and from national resources (SFTI). Up to now, 47% has been drawn.

Routes for Future HSL Pilot Sections Measured by Geodesists
Preparation of pilot sections for the high-speed line (HSL) between Prague, Brno and Ostrava made another important step forward. Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) concluded contracts for carrying out geodetic bearing of the sections Prosenice – Ostrava-Svinov (VRT MORAVSKÁ BRÁNA –HSL MORAVIAN GATE) and Modřice – Šakvice (VRT JIŽNÍ MORAVA – HSL SOUTH MORAVIA). These concern preparation of geodetic documentation for 70 / 30 kilometres of lines.

Alternate Current System Approaches Přerov
Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) actually started the transfer to a unified power feeding system, thanks to a contract signed with the winning bidder in the tender for introducing an alternate current system 25kV, 50Hz in the section Nedakonice – Říkovice which has been using a direct current traction power feeding system so far.

Feasibility Study for (Brno) – Přerov – Ostrava High-Speed Line
Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) selected with use of a new unique method Best Value Approach/Best Value Procurement (BVA/BVP) the supplier of the Feasibility study for the (Brno) – Přerov – Ostrava high-speed line which will include not only the conceptual verification of its route as such but also important documents for further project preparation. SŽDC used this method as first within the transport sector.

Modernization of Tracks to Černošice and Electrification of the Line to Hustopeče u Brna Can Start
This week, Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) signed contracts with suppliers of two important investments on its network in a total value of almost CZK 5 billion. An optimization of the line section between the stations Praha Smíchov and Černošice will practically start the reconstruction of an important suburban railway line from Prague to Beroun. In South Moravia, the perspective regional railway line from Šakvice to Hustopeče u Brna will be modernized and electrified.
